Contest Photographer

Jim Goodrich
We are very excited to announce that Jim Goodrich, photographer / journalist, is back again this year to cover the World Freestyle Round-Up. Jim’s photography career happened quite by accident, well actually he had a skateboarding accident which broke his arm and while wearing a cast started shooting photos of his skate buddies. He quickly met and started photographing some of the top skaters in the southern California area, which led to working as a staff photographer at SkateBoarder magazine in 1978. That experience took him around the world covering the skate scene and soon made him a central figure in the scene himself.

When skateboarding slowed down in 1980, Jim moved on to a job as manager and team coach at Gullwing Products. He continued to photograph the skate scene, but experienced the sport from a manufacturer’s viewpoint. Then, in 1985 TransWorld Skateboarding magazine approached him to become their managing editor, and Jim moved into yet another area of the skate industry. Jim has since moved on but can still be found at skate events with camera in hand to capture what continues to be an important part of his life. Jim was recently inducted into the Florida Skateboard Hall of Fame for his photo contributions throughout the years.
