Online Showdown #1Hello, World Round-Up skaters.

We know you are as disappointed as we are that we had to cancel the contest this year due to the coronavirus outbreak. Even before we announced the cancelation, our team started formulating a backup plan, and here are a few of the details.

What we have decided to do is hold an online freestyle video contest, the first-ever “World Round-Up Online Showdown.”

We considered a LIVE feed format, but it’s not possible for everyone internationally to do a live run because of the different time zones, along with potential technical issues. We will be hosting a video contest with the top skaters going to a live feed show with commentary and pro guest judges. There will be a modest Entry Fee that will guarantee that each participant will receive a Contest T-Shirt and the coveted Contest Belt Buckle.

We are actively approaching sponsors to see if they would be interested in supporting this concept. Several have already stepped up and agreed to support us. Please keep in mind that running an online contest with live feed, prizes and awards can be quite financially different than our regular World Round-Up Freestyle contest. Prize money and AM prizes are still being discussed. We will still award the Henry Candioti SKATE4FUN Award and the Ambassadors Of Freestyle Award, with trophies of some kind for the other divisions (TBD).

As with the World Round-Up, There will be five categories which are:
Pro: (2 minute run)
Amateur: (1.5 minute run)
Masters Pro: Age 40 and over (2 minute run)
Masters Am: Age 40 and over (1.5 minute run)
Rookie: Age 15 and under (1 minute run)

Your video entry will need to be one continuous shot. No editing allowed! Please do not film your video now, as we will be issuing an Entry Form Title Card for your video entry.

Skaters wishing to participate can register now on the World Round-Up website shown below. Registration deadline is midnight, Saturday, May 23rd, 2020. When you register each skater must submit a short video of themselves skating freestyle. This is not the video of your freestyle routine which you will submit later. If we feel your skating is at a different level, we may move you into a different category (which we have always done). https://www.theworldroundup.com/register/

We will have more updates as we finalize all the details. Your goal, for now, is to stay healthy, stay safe, stay positive, and keep practicing!

Thank you, Your World Round-Up Staff
