Eli Meyers

Kima
Contestant: WD-612
From: Antwerp, Belgium
Division: Women’s
Sponsored by: In 1978-80, when I was sponsored my sponsors were: Beltoco, Banzai, G&S, Powell Peralta, Bad Co
Age: 56
Skating: 43 years

Eli has been skateboarding for over 43 years, something she has to thank her brother and friends for. They were the ones that introduced her to the “Magic Rolling Board,” and she has been skating ever since. Else said, “In those days, there were no videos we had to wait for Skateboarder Magazine to come out so we could get our fix and see what was new. My two favorite skaters, who I also consider my mentors, were Stacy Peralta and Mike Weed.”

After graduating from University in tourism, she went on to become a teacher. After many years of service teaching, today’s youth, she has retired. She married an old school skateboarder, and they have two children, Jasmine and Marjolein, who likewise skateboard and are surfing champions as well. Although Eli has never been to the World Round-Up in Canada, her likeness has. In 2018 Jeremy Elder, the editor of Broken Fingers Magazine, sent us sixty 11 by 17-inch posters of Eli to slip into the contestants Welcome Bags. I couldn’t help but notice that she can still slip into her 360 Skate-Wear shirt and short shorts from the ’70s. I have the same shirt and shorts, and we were also sponsored by Pepsi Cola, but I definitely can’t fit in to mine anymore, (Monty).
