I’m originally from Long Island, New York and I started skateboarding when I was around 10. Skateboarding has always been part of my life since then – I even wrote my college admissions essay on skateboarding. In 2012, I graduated from college with a degree in mechanical engineering and for the 2 years worked full-time for a large engineering company.

In May of 2014 I left my job to move from the East coast to San Diego to start a business. I also wanted to start skateboarding more frequently, and not spend the majority of my day inside on a computer. I began a product development company that morphed into Open Source Skateboards, which is a byproduct of my passion for skateboarding, learning, and creativity – all of the boards have open source designs to help skaters better identify what characteristics they like, and I can build custom boards on request. I also teach skateboard building workshops and offer educational kits through the business to promote S.T.E.A.M. education. On the side I am a volunteer at a local maker space and part-time teacher, and I run classes ranging from skateboard building to electronics to 3D printing.
